Generous Donation Helps AME Students Hone Skills

November 16, 2018
Press Release

Thanks to the generosity of Sigmamotor Inc., in Middleport, the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Program at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center has two HAAS CNC mills.

Owner, Don Heschke, says he felt it was important to donate the equipment so the students could continue their learning. "This program is awesome. We have been working with them for a while and we shadow some of the students and I wanted them to explore and get out into the world with what they learn. I want to give everybody a chance to expand upon their learning and give the class some new stuff so more students can work more."

Students - Keegan Bayne (Lyndonville), Wesley Stilwell (Roy-Hart), Adam Conley (Roy-Hart), Cody Luthart (Medina), Logan Wiatrak (Medina), Ryan Holtz (Newfane), Jeff Chapman (Roy-Hart), Alexis Cevaer (Newfane), Meadow Washak (Medina), Dale Jones (Barker), Nathan Poler (Lyndonville), Dylan Smith (Lyndonville), and Trenton Turner (Lyndonville). Sigma Representatives: Chris Donohue, Pete Cummings, Mike Heschke, Don Heschke, and Ken Heschke.

"I am very appreciative of the donations," says teacher Bill Rakonczay. "It is going to give my students an opportunity to work on the latest CNC machines. HAAS is made in America and a very important machine controller. It is going to get them ready to enter the workforce."
