The Medina Teachers Association, the Medina Business Association, and the Medina Central School District are proud to announce the November selections for Students of the Month. This award is a joint effort between the three organizations to recognize students who go above and beyond to help teachers and fellow students succeed and enjoy school.
My Cowboy Transportation has graciously sponsored the award for November. This month students are being honored with this article, a Certificate of Achievement from the Medina Teachers' Association presented by President Joseph Byrne and MCSD Superintendent Mark Kruzynski presented a special pen and pencil. In addition, My Cowboy Transportation presented each student with a Rudy's gift certificate. Yum!
Nominated by Judy Jennings of Oak Orchard was second grader Payton Denniston. Mrs. Jennings shared that "in the short time Payton has been in her classroom, she has shown to be passionate about learning. She completes her work neatly, accurately, and with a smile. She strives to do her best academically and socially. Payton is a good friend to everyone in the classroom. She is helpful, kind, and caring to all. I often see her doing small favors and acts of kindness without expecting recognition. Payton follows our rules and routines and is a great role model for the other students."
From Wise Middle School Olivia Zambito nominated a sixth grade student, Kaedon Cleveland. When Mrs. Zambito indicated her reasons for nominating Kaedon, she shared that "Kaedon is an extremely hard worker who gives every homework assignment, quiz, and test his best. He learns from his mistakes and always asks questions when needed. Kaedon is respectful to both his peers and his teachers. He is always willing to help others in his class and he loves to joke with his teachers when given the chance. Kaedon has a strong and spirited personality that I look forward to being around each and every day. Kaedon is a member of the Medina football team and has great pride in his team and his school. Kaedon works hard to maintain his grades and he asks for extra assignments whenever possible. Kaedon is a great example of a student who exhibits mustang pride and goes above and beyond for his teachers and peers."
From the High School, Shianne Sullinger, a post-graduate student, was nominated by Rachael Rutledge. Mrs. Rutledge reports "Shianne is a very dedicated, hardworking student who is aware of the needs of her peers and constantly volunteers to help them. Whether a peer is struggling with academics or is having difficulty socially, she is always looking for a way to help. She treats all students with respect, regardless of her personal opinions and works well with everyone. Shianne is an especially strong advocate for individuals who may need more support and finds ways to include them in activities and conversations. She is creative in her approach to ensure everyone feels valued. While school is not always easy for her, Shianne consistently puts forth good effort and seeks opportunities to challenge herself."
Congratulations to this month's winners! The MTA, the MBA, and MCSD will continue the student of the month program throughout the school year. Be on the lookout for the next honorees in the coming months. Look for posters in the windows of Medina businesses identifying them as proud supporters of this program. Who will be the next outstanding Medina student to be honored?
