Specialist (SPC) Nicholas Woodward, a recruiter with the New York State Army National Guard, recently stopped into his old Security and Law Enforcement classroom at the Orleans Career and Technical Education Center.
SPC Woodward graduated in 2019 and while at BOCES took first place in the Regional and New York State SkillsUSA competitions in Criminal Justice and placed 13th in the nation at competition in Louisville, Kentucky.
He spent the day putting the senior and junior classes through an intense workout outdoors and then talked to them about the benefits of joining the Army National Guard, such as free college tuition. Security and Law Enforcement teachers Gene Newman and Dudley Gilbert said they appreciate SPC Woodward sharing his experiences with the students and options after graduation.
