October 11th marked the first meeting of the Medina Tuesday Club whose history is celebrating 119 years of study. The object of this group is to expand the intellectual improvement of its membership while advancing literacy, civic and philanthropic work. It was noted that last years donations included $2243 of book sharing.
This years topic of study is A Century of Change, 1900-2000. Meeting at the home of Pat Hermann, the group of 19 heard a report by Ann McElwee on the book "100 events That Shook the World: A history in pictures of the last 100 years." She noted that the years were an amazing time historically, a virtual kaleidoscope of unforgettable people immersed in world-altering events. Lois Donovan then entertained the group with many stories of decade by decade events from the last century. She had read "America's Century year by year from 1900-2000". A Darling Kindersley Book. Both women shared many interesting photos.
The membership also provided one another with a great many joyful and touching memories of two members lost to death in the past year: Peggy Delahunty and Maryellen Dale. Both of these women had had a huge impact on The Tuesday Club for many years. They are dearly missed.
