Medina November Students of the Month Announced

December 28, 2015

The Medina Teachers Association and the Medina Business Association are proud to announce the November selections for Students of the Month. This award is a joint effort between the two organizations to recognize students who go above and beyond to help teachers and fellow students succeed and enjoy school.

RG Lama Studios has graciously sponsored the award for November. This month students are being honored with this article and a Certificate of Achievement from the Medina Teachers' Association presented by President Joseph Byrne. In addition, Renee from RG Lama Studios awarded each student an Avanti gift card. Yum!

Nominated by Andrea Lonnen of Oak Orchard was kindergartener Colton Seitz. Mrs. Lonnen shared that Colton is the perfect role model. He is always setting a good example for his peers. Colton is kind and helpful. He is a good friend to all his classmates and works hard to make sure everyone is included in all activities. This tends to be a hard concept for children this age. However, Colton considers everyone's feelings. Colton listens to his teachers all day long and does his work with perfection. He takes his time to listen to directions and completes tasks correctly. More importantly, he takes pride in his work to make sure it is done neatly. This is another difficult concept for children this age.

From Wise Middle School Marci Brittin nominated a fifth grade student, Madelynn Satkowski. When Mrs Brittin indicated her reasons for nominating Madelynn, she shared that she is a good friend to others. She especially helps one student out in particular to remember what procedures she needs to do daily and helps to keep her on track. One of Madelynn's other teachers also shared that she is quite engaged in her learning. She always asks for help when she needs it, she has asked to stay after 1 day a week to get extra help. Also, she always wants to please!

From the High School, Madison Williams, a ninth grader, was nominated by Robin Shea. Mrs. Shea reports Madison created a Twitter account called spreadmedinakindness. She screens messages and post only positive statements. The kids love it and are saying awesome things about each other and Medina. Wow! Way to go Madison! What a wonderful idea! Congratulations to this month's winners! The MTA and the MBA will continue the student of the month program throughout the school year. Be on the lookout for the next honorees in the coming months. Look for posters in the windows of Medina businesses identifying them as proud supporters of this program. Who will be the next outstanding Medina student to be honored???
